Our Story
Rooms are personal. So is what fills them.
Third Invention is a curated home store for furniture, décor and lighting — chosen for how pieces are made and how they feel to live with.
Why we started
Furnishing a home should not mean choosing between something cheap that lasts a season and something beautiful that costs a month’s salary. We began Third Invention to sit in the middle: pieces made properly, priced sensibly, and explained honestly.
Everything we carry is chosen the same way — we ask who made it, what it is made from, and whether it will still look right in five years. If we cannot answer all three, it does not go on the site.
We are a small team. That is deliberate. It keeps the range short, the decisions ours, and the emails answered by someone who knows the products.
Made to last
Solid frames, honest materials and finishes that age well rather than wear out.
Bought carefully
We would rather carry a short list we can vouch for than an endless catalogue.
Priced plainly
One fair price, no invented discounts, no pressure timers on the product page.
How We Work
Four steps, every time
- 01
We find the maker
Most pieces start with a workshop rather than a catalogue — someone who already does one thing very well.
- 02
We live with a sample
Every piece spends time in a real room before it reaches the site. Some never make it past this step.
- 03
We photograph it honestly
No styling tricks that hide the scale. What you see is the size and finish you receive.
- 04
We stand behind it
Fifteen days to change your mind, and a real person on the other end of the email.
The Letter
New pieces, quietly announced
One email a month: what has just landed, what is nearly gone, and the occasional note from a workshop. No noise.
